It is a new year and the right moment to sharpen the group's identity. Find out what has stayed the same, what has changed, what is behind all of it.
With the start of new year 2026 (for those who might stumble upon this post later), I think it is a good moment to give my research group’s website a revamp. However, there is more to this than just an update of some visuals or addition of items that probably should have been there much longer.
Instead, this is part of a larger activity aiming at sharpening to group’s identity in the light of current developments in academia but also outside.
Those of you who have followed our research for a bit, here or elsewhere, will probably recall that the previous domain was “BaumeierGroup.com”, while internally at TU/e the group is known as “Computational Quantum and Molecular Dynamics”. While the core of our interests largely remains the same, we are changing some nuances of our mission, reflecting the quickly evolving nature of research in computational science in general and quantum simulation in particular. One change is the name of the website and the group, which (as I am sure everyone figured out by now) is now Multiscale Quantum Algorithms. On our Research page, you can find out What We Do, Our Mission, and Why It Matters. In the future, we will add there information about some particular research lines we follow.
An important change to this online presence is the addition of the research groups’s Blog section of which you are currently reading the first post. The second post will actually introduce in more detail what you can expect to find there. In short, I want this to be platform to share more about our research in general complementing in accessible ways the published work, while also allowing for broader thoughts and reflections on science, academia, and society.
It goes without saying that this is all work in progress, a very much living online presence, so let’s see what it develops into. Stay tuned!
